I love the act of cutting my bangs, feeling the scissors' blades move across my forehead as they cut my hair. I listen to the scissors snipping and watch the haircut in progress. I love watching the cut hair fall from my face, revealing a nice, clean, blunt line of hair. I use my $1 shears from the Dollar Tree. I figure that those shears have saved me about $50 in haircuts since I bought them last winter. I cut my bangs only about four times each year. I guess that means I cut them seasonally. If I cut them this short, I really don't need a trim any more often than that. I like to cut them short so that I won't have to deal with them until they grow out again. That way, I sort of get the best of both worlds, experiencing and sporting both long bangs and short ones.
There's a fine line between cutting them just short enough and cutting them TOO short. I'll provide photos of both of these conditions for your viewing pleasure. I just added these photos in the wrong order, but I think you can figure it out. The bottom one was taken just before cutting my bangs as I was waiting for them to get dry enough after my shower. The top one shows the result of my efforts. What do you think? I'm not the most photogenic person in the world, but there you have it.
I used to hate having short bangs, but, having experienced all the different lengths and even going without bangs (a big mistake with my huge forehead!), I have decided that short bangs really look best on me. The super-short ones, however, do not. The third picture above illustrates what I mean by "too short" bangs. They're just a little severe for my taste. That was two years ago when I got a little carried away while "trimming" my bangs one day.
So now let me finally get to the title of this blog. I have read of a couple of instances of men saying how much they hate bangs on women. Guys, can you tell me why? I, for one, feel very pretty, feminine, and sexy with my bangs cut short. Does that make a difference to you? Please weigh in and let me know your feelings and opinions. I'll still keep cutting my bangs whenever the need arises, but I just want to know how men feel about that border of hair on some women's foreheads.
Not sure if you want an opinion, but the blunt fringe, at almost any length, isn't for you. The long fringe is best, though, if you have to do it. I recommend going to a really good stylist once or twice and asking them to do a hairstyle with bangs that best suit your face shape. Then, if all looks good (you should be able to trust the opinion of a good stylist), you can reproduce the same look at home (and save that money). Going to a stylist to figure out your best look is money well spent, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for men hating bangs--they don't. They hate bangs that look bad.

Who said men hate bangs? I have always LOVED seeing a woman with straight bangs, the deeper the better, and short is fine. I loved reading about your feelings when cutting your hair. Way cool.
